Historic Boxing Match
In April 2022 we were delighted to announce that Stake would be an official partner in the historic match between Gennadiy Golovkin and Ryota Murata. Billed as 'Big Drama in Japan' and taking place at Saitama Super Arena, this was one of the biggest boxing matches ever to take place in Japan and didn't disappoint, with Golovkin defeating Murata in the ninth round via technical knockout.
Best Fight of the Year
A month later, in June 2022, we followed that magnificent event with the rematch of Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire. These two elite boxers first met in November 2019, with Inoue winning by unanimous decision in what was widely regarded as the best fight of the year. However, the second meeting was more straightforward, with Inoue knocking out Donaire in the second round to become the unified world champion.
Ground Breaking Sponsorship
Our groundbreaking sponsorship of boxing matches involving these national heroes was just the start, and in April 2023 we again came forward as a sponsor for Tenshin Nasukawa's long-awaited boxing debut where he overcame Yuki Yonaha in Saitama. This event also saw the brilliant Kenshiro Teraji defeat Anthony Olascuaga to retain the WBC, WBA & The Ring light-flyweight to the delight of fans across Japan.
